Blogging

Arghhh Sucky! When you first start, it’s disappointing when you realise your blog hasn’t become as popular as problogger.net yet. I’ve realised in my short blogging life just how much effort is needed to run a blog. You have SEO to work on, you need to be posting content daily, you have blog design to worry about, you have the huge task of blog promotion and then, if your like me, you have to try and learn how to make money from your blog. Trying to do all these tasks at once is a nightmare. So what I’ve been doing is breaking everything down in to sections.

Obviously, posting content always has to be at the top of your list. But as for promotion, SEO and making money, I focus on a different one each day. Today I’ve been working on SEO. I’ve broke SEO down in to categories, some of the categories might not even have anything to do with SEO but it’s what I list them under.

So, inside SEO (Search engine optimization), I have Alexa, Technorati, Keywords and a few others. I’ll pick one of them. Say Alexa. Then I’ll spend as long as I can working on improving my Alexa ranking. Working on one specific area means it’s getting my 100% attention. I’m guessing the reason a lot of blogs fail is because the owners want instant success. You don’t realise just how much there is to do if you want to run a successful blog. Every area of your blog needs 100% putting in to it.

Rejection
Today I had a bit of a set back. I was rejected from the ”pay per post” network Smorty.

Smorty Rejection

Getting rejected isn’t all bad. It’s pointed out the fact that my blog isn’t indexed enough. So, my main focus over the next few days, is to look in to why only a few pages of my blog are indexed with search engines. I’ll be looking in to ways to improve my blog, making it easier for the blog to get indexed.

I’m sure this is the first of many eye openers and setbacks I will face in my blogging lifetime. Never lets setbacks dishearten you. I class them as ‘Good Free Advice” in disguise. How do you run your blog?
